While you might like your stylist at a hair salon, if you’d like to have other treatments then a day spa may be the best option.  Day spas differ in that they have full bathrooms with showering and changing facilities for women and men.  When you arrive and check in at day spas you will be handed robes and slippers to make your visit more a comfortable and relaxing experience.  Hair salons will not offer such amenities, however that does not say that the actual service cannot be enjoyed.

Although there are a wide variety of services at day spas, the typical services offered include massages, body treatments and skin care treatments.  Some massages that are offered include Swedish, Neuro muscular, and Prenatal massages.  Some body treatments that are offered include body wraps, exfoliation, and waxing.  Skin Care treatments includes facial services.  Some types of facials at day spas include a basic facial, deep cleansing facial and acne facial.

Other skin care treatments usually include peels.  There are 3 types of peels: enzyme, Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) and Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA).  Enzyme peels include pumpkin, papaya or pineapple fruit acids.  Alpha hydroxy acid peels are lactic acid (good for dry skin) and glycolic acid (good for mature skin) based.  Beta hydroxy acids peels are best for oily skin and includes salicylic acid.  Day spas usually have cosmetics available too.  Other treatments that may be available include spa manicures and pedicures.

Whether you make the choice to go to a hair salons or day spas for your services,  it is required by law that each location has a business license, a state issued salon/spa license and all estheticians, massage therapists and hair stylists should have licensed issued by the state too.  All professional staff should be adequately trained on the skin care products they choose to use on you.  Spa professionals in reputable establishments have the ability to determine skin type and conditions in order to perform the most appropriate service.
